The client
The client is a glass-door and architectural hardware manufacturer based in Foshan, Guangdong, China. Their range covers glass door locks, hinges, floor hinges, door closers, glass clamps, bathroom and shower hardware, furniture hardware and glass cutters, and they also offer custom manufacturing.
Their target markets are the United States, Spain, France and the wider European market. Their main sales tool is a WooCommerce website with 433 products across 19 categories.
The challenge
The factory had a large catalogue and real manufacturing capability, but the website was not doing its job for overseas buyers. Our audit found:
- Product titles buyers would never search for. Many products were named with internal codes or unclear names rather than the words a buyer in the US or Europe would type into Google.
- Missing SEO basics. The homepage and category pages lacked proper SEO titles and meta descriptions, and there were typos on the site.
- Inconsistent contact details. The company name, email address and phone numbers were not the same across the site.
- Not connected to Google. The site was not set up in Google Search Console and no sitemap had been submitted.
- No quick way to get in touch. Overseas buyers had no fast, direct contact option.
- Empty social sharing data. The homepage Open Graph data was blank, so links shared on social platforms or messaging apps showed no proper title, description or image.
- HTTPS certificate problem. The site was using a self-signed certificate, which browsers flag as untrusted.
What we did
Phase 1: Audit and quick fixes
- Fixed SEO titles, meta descriptions and headings on the homepage and category pages, and corrected typos.
- Set up Google Search Console, submitted the sitemap and requested indexing of key pages.
- Added a floating WhatsApp button and a WeChat QR link in the footer, so buyers can reach the sales team in one tap.
- Corrected phone numbers sitewide and standardised the brand name and email address.
- Filled in the homepage Open Graph data so shared links display properly.
Phase 2: Rewriting 433 product titles
We rewrote every one of the 433 product titles into clear, buyer-search-friendly English. For example, a product listed only as "T-065" became "Iron Furniture Corner Angle Bracket T-065" — keeping the model code for existing customers while adding the words a new buyer would actually search for.
The titles were delivered in three batches using WooCommerce CSV export and import. Along the way we solved two technical obstacles:
- The host's PHP memory limit blocked a full export, so we exported category by category.
- The products had no SKUs, so we mapped updates by product ID instead.
Every batch was re-imported with zero duplicate products.
Phase 3: Tracking and next steps
- Search performance is now being tracked in Google Search Console.
- We flagged the HTTPS certificate fix as the next priority; it requires hosting access to complete.
- We recommended a next phase of Spanish and French language pages to serve the client's European markets directly.
Results so far
The work was completed in September 2026. It is too early to report ranking or enquiry numbers, and we won't invent them. SEO changes like these typically take around two to four months to show up in rankings.
What has been delivered:
- All 433 product titles rewritten in buyer-friendly English and live on the site, with no duplicate products created.
- Homepage and category pages with proper SEO titles, descriptions and headings.
- The site connected to Google Search Console with a submitted sitemap and key pages submitted for indexing.
- Consistent brand name, email and phone numbers across the site, plus WhatsApp and WeChat contact options.
- Working social sharing previews for the homepage.
What we are measuring in Search Console: indexing coverage of product and category pages, impressions and clicks from search, and which product-related search queries the site begins to appear for.
What other exporters can learn
- Name products the way buyers search. Internal codes mean nothing to a new buyer. Keep the code, but lead with the product type, material and use.
- Connect your site to Google Search Console. Without it and a submitted sitemap, you have no clear view of whether Google is indexing your pages.
- Make contact effortless and consistent. One company name, one email, correct phone numbers, and a one-tap WhatsApp or WeChat option remove friction for overseas buyers.
- Fix trust signals early. A certificate warning in the browser can stop a buyer before they see a single product.
- Plan for your buyers' languages. If you sell into Spain and France, English-only pages leave those searches to competitors.
